For sale is an exceptionally rare and truly delightful first limited edition of A Christmas Carol, by Charles Dickens. This volume being a copy of the original manuscript, and one of only a small number printed. Published by Stock, London, 1890.
Bound in the publisher's fine original vellum over grey hard boards. The title in gilt to the spine, and decoration also in gilt to the upper board. Externally it remains in pleasing order; the colouration for such a binding is good, and the hinges are firm. Extraneous rubbing and the odd bump in places, but this does not hinder its handsome appeal. Internally it is largely clean and fresh, and with only trivial sporadic spotting in places. The internal photographs give a clear insight as to the condition. This volume is rare, and seldom do we see such examples on the open market.Those which do appear, retail well into four figures, and we have priced this very competitively indeed.
